The Montclair

About This Scene:

by Frank K.
Frank K. is a retired Ob-Gyn who has adopted miniatures as a favorite hobby. He has certainly become somewhat of a pro at woodworking! One of his most recent projects (3 years in the making) is his beautiful Montclair dollhouse. Frank says, “the hardest part was the wiring, and getting all the lights to work correctly. One switch for one light is easy, 60 switches for 120 lights is not so easy. Simply keeping track of what goes where, and hiding it all, kept me busy.” Frank made some adjustments to the Montclair so that the house would fit his project ideas. He enlarged the dining room one inch into the kitchen and enlarged the master bedroom one inch into the bathroom. He added appropriate arches at the front entrance to make it a separate entrance room, added many doors and windows, changed the attic room separators so that it looks more realistic, and added 9 fireplace boxes of 1/4 inch plywood which became part of the supporting structure. Frank built the Montclair for his wife.
