The White House

About This Scene:

Norman drove the Secret Service crazy whenever he had the occasion to be in the White House. He would constantly study the details of the structure. The building is completed except for furnishing, which is a task for his granddaughter! She excited about that.

When his granddaughter was five years old she asked him to build a copy of the White House as a doll house. It took a bit longer than planned, but it was finished the month she graduated from college.

The house is completely loaded with chandeliers and flickering fireplaces. The appropriate ceilings are real gold tissue and the floors are wood peg, etc. One small piece of flooring is of inlaid wood trim made in about 1890 by his grandfather, a carpenter. The outside structure is lit by flood lights that cast a nice effect.
